About Duba Plains Camp

Duba Plains Camp lies in the most remote reaches of the Okavango Delta, Botswana, in an area renowned for the endless conflict between prides of lions and the herds of buffalo which sustain them. The award-winning National Geographic documentary Relentless Enemies chronicled this battle for survival. Duba Plains Camp is an unobtrusive camp surrounded by expanses of seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, sycamore fig and mangosteen trees.

Game Viewing

Buffalo (huge herds), Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Wildebeest, Warthog, Lechwe, Hippo, Tsessebe, Kudu, Bat-eared Fox and Aardwolf plus some of the best birding in the Delta.


Activities

Largely a land activity focused camp

  • Game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers – the camp has 3 x 10-seater Land Rovers each accommodating a maximum of seven guests, allowing all guests an outside seat
  • The camp has a supply of bean bags for guests to use to steady their camera while on a game activity

Suggested Daily Activity Schedule

Below is only a suggestion as to what a day may entail as daily wildlife sightings tend to dictate the schedule

Summer/winter

05h00/06h00 Wake up call. Light continental breakfast consisting of cereals, tea/coffee/juices and pastries to be served in the dining area
05h30/06h30 Depart on morning activity, returning to camp at approximately 10h00
10h00/11h00 Brunch will be served; this will consist of a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes and then at leisure until afternoon tea
16h00/15h00 Afternoon tea will be served - this will consist of a selection of sweet and savoury snacks
16h30/15h30 Depart on afternoon game viewing activity. Sundowner drinks and snacks will be served during the course of the activity
19h00/19h30 Return to camp
19h30/20h00 Pre-dinner drinks and snacks will be served at the pub
20h00/20h30 Three course dinner – generally speaking the starter and desert is served, whilst the main course is buffet style
21h00/21h30 Coffee and liqueurs around the campfire


Electricity & Water
  • Camp has 220v generator. Electricity is run in the kitchen and main areas when guests are not in camp. When guests return from daily activities, generators are generally switched off (for peace in camp)
  • 220v battery power (charged by the generator) is used for lighting and fans in guest tents 24hrs a day
  • 220v plugs available in each tent for the charging of batteries only. Hence bring spare battery, charging unit and adaptors
  • Plug points are available in each tent so that sleep apnoea machines may be used
  • Solar heated water for showers etc
