Shamwari, the 25 000 hectare, malaria-free, private game reserve is situated at the end of the Garden Route in South Africa, only 45 minutes by road from Port Elizabeth. This award winning, internationally recognized reserve is about conserving a vanishing way of life and is the realization of one mans dream and many people's passion. It boasts five eco-systems, thus enabling the support of many forms of plant, animal and bird life. History was made in November 2001 when a portion of Shamwari became the first privately owned Wilderness area in the Africa.

Shamwari's highly trained game rangers will accompany you on morning and evening game drives where amongst other things they will introduce you to current research and conservation projects. The Reserve is host to a Born Free Foundation Centre providing a sanctuary for big cats that have been rescued from captive conditions. The reserve has a complete wildlife research team as well as it's own anti-poaching unit. Khaya Lendaba, the African Arts and Culture Village, is a vibrant depiction of the various African cultures. Visitors can experience traditional African dancing and storytelling at its best.
