About The Lodge & The ReserveAbout Kirkman's Kamp
The bedrooms of one of the most luxurious safari lodges South Africa offers consist of eighteen guest cottages with private verandahs offering magnificent views of the surrounding bush. Kirkman's Kamp's luxury safari lodge cottages all have en-suite bathrooms with showers, and true to the olden day feel - feature ball and claw baths. Air-conditioning and ceiling fans provide welcome relief from the heat of the African Sun. The colonial atmosphere of an old South African homestead complete with both style and luxury is cherished. In the interests of personal safety, and in keeping with the exclusivity synonymous with Kirkman's Kamp. Overlooking the Sand River, this South African game lodge has spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness as far as the eye can see. Kirkman's Kamp is a historic and famous camp which was originally built in the early 1920's. Kirkman's Kamp was named in honour of W. Harry Kirkman, one of South Africa 's foremost conservationists, who began his illustrious career as a ranger in Toulon in 1927. The colonial atmosphere of gracious style and luxury has been retained and one steps back in time upon entering the old homestead, which now serves as the recreational hub of the camp. The large lounge, decorated in 1920 style, leads through double French doors onto rolling lawns that provide a velvety contrast to the wild and tumbling bush surrounding the camp. Breakfast and lunch are either served in the new air-conditioned dining area, or on the shady surrounding verandahs. Dinner at this South African game lodge is a very special event taken under the stars in the boma around a campfire.. Features
About Sabi Sand Game Reserve
This reserve shares 50km of unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park and animals are at liberty to go wherever they wish - but they tend to stay right where they are! This is because the Sand River and Sabi River supply much needed water in the dry season and create an eco-system with one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations in Southern Africa. This is the reason why it is quite possible to see the 'Big Five' (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, buffalo and elephant) as well as numerous other animals and birds in a couple of days, or even a couple of hours in Sabi Sand.
