About The Lodge & The ReserveAbout Arathusa Safari Lodge
Arathusa Safari Lodge is situated in the prestigious Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in the Bushveld of South Africa and forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Arathusa Safari Lodge was originally a hunting lodge, is owner operated and belongs to the Dannhauser Family since 1960. The lodge offers guests a true African Safari in the heartland of Big Five country. The Arathusa Safari Lodge offers an intimate, exclusive and private experience. The area is known world wide for its quality game drives and the exceptional sightings. The qualified rangers and trackers ensure that guests are offered the opportunity to view and photograph the animals from as close as a few feet! Because a lake is at the heart of Safari Lodge, the five thatched chalets provide a 180 degree view of a great variety of game joining the odd hippo for a drink - giraffe, kudu, zebra and any one of the Big Five - with the flash of kingfishers or the squeak of guinea fowl. About Sabi Sand Game Reserve
This reserve shares 50km of unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park and animals are at liberty to go wherever they wish - but they tend to stay right where they are! This is because the Sand River and Sabi River supply much needed water in the dry season and create an eco-system with one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations in Southern Africa. This is the reason why it is quite possible to see the 'Big Five' (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, buffalo and elephant) as well as numerous other animals and birds in a couple of days, or even a couple of hours in Sabi Sand.
