Situated between Victoria Falls & Livingstone in Zambia, Royal Chundu Zambezi River Lodge is a place of absolute solitude and unspoilt beauty where nature is untouched. It is a destination where guests can journey back in time. Spacious suites and lounging areas masterfully blend colonial elegance and African charm offering luxurious thatched accommodation in 14 beautiful villas. Of these, 10 are perched on the banks of the Zambezi, while 4 private suites with their own lounge, dining and pool area are located on Katomboro Island 4 kilometres upstream from the main lodge. Villas are exquisitely decorated reflecting a bygone era of comfort in the wild. The “Out of Africa” is completed by your own private deck facing the magnificent Zambezi River. Tucked within the privacy of the Katombora Island and protected by the Katombora rapids, this lodge offers guests a tranquil, luxurious and exclusive getaway. Here you can absorb the pulse of the river on private decks and spacious rooms whose glass doors and windows fully fold back to absorb the spirit of the river and the cacophony of birdlife. The large but tidy Mukuni is a local village of about 7000 Leya people. Tourists can visit the village to find out more about their traditional way of life, while the admission fee helps fund community projects. The village is 18km (11mi) southwest of Livingstone and only accessible by taxi. Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ - Victoria Falls is a spectacular sight on the Columns of spray can be seen from far away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge (at the height of the flood season) over a width of nearly two kilometers into a deep gorge over 100 meters below. Royal Chundu is located 60 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls and 50 kilometres from Livingstone International Airport. Closest Airport: Livingstone International Airport (LVI) By road: From Kazangula - Turn right to go to Livingstone and continue for about 10 km were you will see the Royal Chundu board on the right side of the road. Turn right and follow the boards to the lodge for 11km. From Livingstone - Take the road to Katima Mililo (nakatindi Road) continue for about 50km and the Royal Chundu board will be on you left hand side of the road. Turn left and follow the boards for 11km to the lodge. From Victoria Falls border post - Drive into Livingstone town (about 8km)on Mosi-oa-Tunnya road, opposite the Shoprite mall, Nakatindi road goes out to your left. Take that road for about 50km and you will see the Royal Chundu board on your left. Turn left and follow the boards for 11km to the lodge. ![]() GPS Co-ordinates :
