About Dawsons Game & Trout Lodge
This gem of a lodge is located in Mpumalanga where remarkable mountain ranges meet grand waterfalls and endless savannahs. Dawsons Game and Trout Lodge is surrounded by magnificent open spaces that beckon to be explored and abundant wildlife that thrill onlookers day after day. It is made up of eight African colonial-style rooms that invoke the sense of days gone by and invite visitors to stay in the lap of luxury, all while enjoying a unique African experience in the wild. The large wrap-around veranda offers stellar views of the rolling plains and lush vegetation. Dawsons is truly where exclusive luxury meets the majesty of the African bushveld.
The lodge also offers The Homestead, a secluded, self-catering farmhouse that has been restored to bring guests luxury and comfort. It sleeps a maximum of 14 people, making it ideal for a large group. The Creekside Cottage sleeps four guests and is the perfect combination of rustic beauty and sheer homely comfort. Apart from the multitude of wildlife that is waiting to be discovered and admired while on an expertly guided game drive, there are also many other activities that can be enjoyed in the area. There are quad bike trails, hiking, fishing, archery and bird-watching, to name but a few things – there’s really something for everyone to enjoy during a visit to Dawsons. If it’s relaxation and rejuvenation you’re after, this is easily obtained through an indulgent spa treatment that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own suite, or out in nature. Incredible natural beauty combined with the magic of the African bushveld and a touch of luxury, makes Dawsons Game and Trout Lodge the perfect place for a memorable bush getaway.
Getting There
From Johannesburg
- Take the N12 (in the general direction of O R Tambo Airport). This is signposted towards Witbank.
- At Witbank, take the N4 and continue past Middelburg and past Belfast, until you reach the town of Machadodorp (R541).
- Drive through Machadodorp, and keep a look out for the signs directing you to Badplaas/Barberton. (This is approximately 4 streets and at a T-junction turn left. But watch for signs).
- This will take you over a pass. Take it easy as there are some hairpin bends (this is especially relevant if anyone will be driving at night. Take it very easy, please).
- Once over the pass, you come to a T-junction signposted: Badplaas right; Barberton Left. Go Left towards Barberton (R38).
- Approximately 18km on the left hand side, look out for a row of Aloes – that’s Dawson’s Game and Trout Lodge.
