About Dzombo Camp
With only five full-service lodges on the 2100ha of the privately managed Black Rhino Game Reserve, guests can expect a very personal African safari experience. Being out here on your own, exploring the huge wilderness of mountains, plains, and the Pilanesberg crater, is humbling.
Each of our five private suites is named after one of Africa’s Big Five in Sotho, offering an intimate retreat that celebrates both privacy and connection to the environment.

About Pilanesberg National Park
With an area of 55,000 hectares, the Pilanesberg National Park is adjacent to the Sun City entertainment complex. This destination boasts a 1200 million-year old volcano crater with Mankwe Lake in the centre, making it truly remarkable. Due to its location between the Kalahari and Lowveld, the vegetation from both regions can be found in this area.

AREA ACTIVITIES
Specialising in the Pilanesberg National Park, you can find almost all the animal species native to southern Africa, including the big five, wild dog, and rarer species like Roan, Tsessebe, and Sable antelope. With a variety of picnic spots, game hides, an aviary, safari drives, and hot air balloon rides, the Park has plenty to offer.
Getting There
Directions to Dzombo Camp
From Pretoria:
- Take the N1 north.
- Exit onto the N4 heading towards Rustenburg.
- Continue along the N4 and take the R556 off-ramp (Sun City/Pilanesberg National Park).
- Turn right at the stop, cross over the highway, and head straight towards Sun City.
- Pass the Sun City Gate (on your right).
- Continue straight for approximately 5 km on the R556, passing Sun Village Shopping Centre on your right.
- At the 4-way stop, turn right.
- Travel approximately 30 km on the R565 Derdepoort Road.
- The entrance to Black Rhino Game Reserve will be on your right. The road is tarred all the way to the entrance.
From Johannesburg & Sandton:
- Take the R512 past Hartebeestpoort Dam until it connects with the N4.
- Travel along the N4 and take the R556 off-ramp (Sun City/Pilanesberg National Park).
- Turn right at the stop, cross over the highway, and go straight towards Sun City.
- Pass the Sun City Gate (on your right).
- Continue straight for about 5 km on the R556, passing Sun Village Shopping Centre on your right.
- At the 4-way stop, turn right.
- Travel approximately 30 km on the R565 Derdepoort Road.
- The Black Rhino Game Reserve entrance will be on your right. The road is tarred to the entrance.
