The Pilanesberg National Park is perfectly located in close proximity of several major cities including Johannesburg, Gauteng. This Big Five game reserve is close enough to make the most of a last minute safari escape from Gauteng, with a quick 2 – 3 hours drive, you can be surrounded by african wildlife and nature.
The Pilanesberg Game Reserve named after a Tswana chief ‘Pilane’ is located in North West Province of South Africa and borders with the famous entertainment complex Sun City. The National Park features accommodation options such as camp sites, basic tented camps, luxury bush lodges and a rich array of southern African wildlife including the Famous Big Five – the five most notorious animals in Africa including lion, elephant, black rhino, white rhino, the Cape buffalo, leopard, cheetahs, Hartmann’s mountain zebras, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles. The park also boasts over 360 types of bird species. The Pilanesberg is not in a location of which the Big Five animals would naturally inhabit, however they have been brought into the 550 square kilometres of this African bush in the Pilanesberg.
