6 hour drive from Johannesburg or 1.5 hour light aircraft flight into the reserve
Daily scheduled flight to Hoedspruit and 40 minute road transfer to the lodge

Daily Federal Air flights from OR Tambo International Airport directly to Ngala Airstrip. Daily SA Express flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Eastgate Airport, followed by a one-hour road transfer

Please note:
- All rates are subject to availability.
- Proof of SADC residency (SADC ID, work permit or endorsed passport) may be required at the time of booking or upon check-in at the lodge.
- Surcharges may apply on rates over peak holiday periods and long weekends.
- Special discounted rates for International guests are available on request.
- Unless otherwise stated, all rates listed are based on a minimum 2 night stay. Surcharges may apply for a 1 night booking.
- Rates quoted are only applicable to South African Residents. Discounted rates for Overseas Residents are available on request.
- Rates include Emergency medical evacuation insurance.
- Timbavati Conservation Levy R 500 per person per stay when entering the park via Orpen Gate applies and will be added to the invoice for the accommodation at the time of booking. (Subject to change)
- Entry and exit to the reserves, via self-drive, will need to happen through the same gate.
- Timbavati Gate Entrance Fee of R 280 per vehicle entry applies, based on a light motor vehicle, for self-drive guests. Payable in cash at the gate and subject to change.

About Timbavati Game Reserve
Timbavati Nature Reserve shares a common unfenced border with the Kruger National Park allowing animals free range and ensuring guests to the area the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. View the big game from open vehicles, on foot or from the comfort of your room as you experience timeless Africa.
Escape from the grind of daily life and succumb to the tranquil wilderness of the Timbavati Nature Reserve in the South African Lowveld. Here you can view the Big Five and other endangered species such as the Wild Dog and Cheetah in their natural environment.
Animals and birds.
All the big game is here including rhino, elephants, buffalo, zebras, antelopes, as well as leopard, lion, hyena. Bird watching is good particularly during the rainy season.

Getting There
FROM JOHANNESBURG
- Ngala Tented Camp is situated about 500km from Johannesburg and travelling time is approximately 6 hours
- Take the N12/N4 through Witbank, then later left onto the R540 to Belfast (opposite the Engen Fuel Station).
- In Belfast, turn right towards Dullstroom and Mashishing (Lydenburg).
- In Mashishing (Lydenburg) look out for the information boards directing you to the R36 to Ohrigstad. Follow signs to R36 Ohrigstad, Hoedspruit or Tzaneen. It is marked 47 km to Ohrigstad as you leave Mashishing. Stay on the R36. Pass through Ohrigstad, later over the beautiful Abel Erasmus Pass and through the JG Strydom tunnel, following signs to Hoedspruit.
- Beyond the Tzaneen turn-off and before Hoedspruit, is the turn to take the R531 to Klaserie / Acornhoek / Orpen. This road is approximately 30 km to the R40.
- You will pass under a railway bridge and a few kilometres after this, turn left at the Orpen sign. Take this road for about 40 km.
- There is a National Park boomed gate. If asked, inform the guards that you are going to Ngala Tented Camp – there is no entrance fee.
- Continue to the end of this road where you will find the signs to Ngala Tented Camp at the roundabout. Follow the road down to the lodge.
FROM NELSPRUIT
- Ngala Tented Camp is situated about 190km from Nelspruit and travelling time is approximately 3 hours
- Take the R40 towards White River.
- Pass through White River and continue to Hazyview, past Bushbuckridge and on to Acornhoek. Go straight through the traffic lights at Acornhoek towards Klaserie. A few kilometres further along the R40, take the right turn at the sign marked Orpen. Take this road for about 40 km.
- There is a National Park boomed gate. If asked, inform the guards that you are going to Ngala Tented Camp – there is no entrance fee.
- Continue to the end of this road where you will find the signs to Ngala Tented Camp at the roundabout. Follow the road down to the lodge.
PLEASE NOTE
Ngala Tented Camp cannot be accessed through the Timbavati Gate.
Please be aware, as you approach the Lodge that you are in a wilderness area where predators and high-profile game roam freely. Do not leave your car for any reason.
Wherever possible and available, we do provide covered parking for guest vehicles. However, we cannot be held responsible for theft, loss or damage whilst vehicles are parked on our premises.
