About Lions Valley Lodge
Lions Valley Lodge is a private game lodge situated in the centre of the 21,000 acre Nambiti Private Game Reserve. This luxury safari reserve is nestled in the Ladysmith area of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, within easy reach of the central Drakensberg and many of the historic battlefields. This malaria-free virgin bushveld area with its mixed vegetation of savannah grasslands, indigenous trees and shrubs is home to the Big Five as well as offering the ideal habitat for a large variety of antelope, smaller game species and an abundant birdlife. Visitors to Lions Valley Lodge are accommodated in exclusive, freestanding luxury thatched suites, offering guests maximum privacy.
The decor of each of the ten suites follows a special individual theme; and all are designed with areas for extensive relaxation.
The Africa Suite emanates an air of magical mystery with its decor of natural hides, traditional wooden masks and tribal cultural artefacts. This suite is the epitome of an African experience, allowing visitors to explore the magnitude of Africa’s splendor throughout their stay.
The elegant decor in the Bird Suite is a reflection of KwaZulu-Natal’s abundant birdlife. The original paintings in this suite are examples of some of the 183 identified indigenous birds on the Conservancy List.
The Livingstone Suite pays homage to the Scottish missionary and explorer, David Livingstone, who gained worldwide recognition for his travels through Africa in search of the source of the Nile River.
The Savannah Suite is decorated in the beautiful natural colours of this biome which is also known as the bushveld. The vegetation is predominantly grasses and thorny trees and in day’s gone-by large herds of game and elephant were typically seen in this type of area.
The Ndebele Suite is an accolade to the Ndebele people. They are known for their rich cultural heritage as depicted in their highly imaginative beadwork and brightly coloured mural patterns. Their culture is visible throughout this suite, from the beaded tribal artwork, and cultural artefacts that portray a sense of strength and pride.
The Nguni Suite is decorated with genuine Nguni Cattle hides and leather items as a mark of respect for the noble indigenous herds that form an intrinsic part of the KwaZulu-Natal landscape. These cattle signify wealth and prosperity in the Zulu culture.
The Romance Suite indulges the senses with gloriously romantic, decorative touches designed to stir the emotions and kindle the flames of passion. This romantic suite is the piece de resistance, a celebration of love and romantic devotion. It is the ultimate honeymoon destination.
The Safari Suite recalls nostalgic memories of the early years of African exploration when going on safari represented a daunting challenge. The decorative touches hark back to scenes from the bygone days of ‘Out of Africa’.
The Homestead Suite offers guests a rare glance of rural home adorned with some unique decor pieces. The original painting in this suite is of the old farmhouse on the reserve known as the “Homestead”.
The decor of the Zebra Suite features authentic zebra skins and zebra-patterned textiles that echo the grace and charm of these enchanting, nimble-footed animals.
