About Madikwe Safari Lodge – Dithaba Lodge
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in one of South Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuaries, more commonly known as the Madikwe Game Reserve. This malaria-free game reserve is home to the Big Five, endangered African wild dog and just over 60 other mammal species. Madikwe Safari Lodge consists of 3 camps perfect for families, couples & friends. If one is looking for private accommodation, great game viewing and a spectacular safari experience, Madikwe Safari Lodge is the place to be.
Dithaba Lodge
The local dialect meaning of Dithaba is mountain & is located slightly higher up than the other camps, offering a magnificent view over the open plains. With only 4 Suites each with a private plunge pool this lodge is well suited to a group of friends or family members making it their own while on safari. It is also just the perfect escape for those who simply prefer the sound of nature and little else.
Some of the features of Dithaba Lodge include :
- 4 Suites for 8 guests
- Children of 16 and over welcome, unless lodge is booked exclusively then children of all ages are welcome
- Private Plunge Pools only
- Open plan lounge and dining area
- Not suitable for disabled travellers
- Full range of dietary preferences catered for
The Lodge will only ever accommodate a maximum of two triple or one four-bedded suites. Overlooking Madikwe’s game-filled plains, intimate sitting areas in all three camps feature shaded outdoor seating on expansive covered decks. There are plentiful fireplaces both inside and outdoors with pizza ovens for fun dining, book-filled libraries and a unique safari shop. A covered outdoor living room offers beanbags and cushions on the floor for casual relaxation. The nearby boma is the setting for evocative starlit dinners.
Madikwe Safari Lodge Childrens Eco Centre
The centre is managed by a field ranging team so there is continuity between the activities done outdoors and the experiential learning done inside the ECO-HOUSE. The centre is a hive of activity where painting, drawing, making location specific models or getting to touch and smell some of the live specimens in the center, happens.
Parents have the choice to either engage in the learning with their kids or steal a few hours for themselves knowing their kids are in safe hands. This experience is unique to Madikwe Safari Lodge.
About Madikwe Game Reserve
Herman Charles Bosman has woven many a tale about Abjaterskop and the Marico River . It is perhaps he that best describes the vast area where enselsberg rise from the savannahs and an area that is given life from the Marico River . This is the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve, 75 000 hectares of unique topography and breathtaking beauty, it is also the home to the big 5, wild dog, cheetah and a large variety of mammal and bird life.
This 75 000 hectare reserve is situated in the North-West province of South Africa , on the border with Botswana . The large diversity of vegetation and ecozones allows for a rich diversity of game and bird species to inhabit the reserve.
