About Monwana Game Lodge
Monwana occupies its own space in the reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, where a short journey from the airport provides your first introduction to safari. Explore our 14,000-hectare reserve, home to the Big 5, on exhilarating game drives and bush walks with our expert field guides & trackers who share their insider knowledge of their beloved environment.
The main lodge overlooks an active waterhole where you can observe a stream of wildlife coming to drink from the comfort of the wraparound wooden deck. There are expansive views onto a seasonal riverbed, that even when dry, lends itself to regular animal activity. The lodge’s double volume vertical space, massive cathedral windows and doors open wide, so you feel at one with nature. Designed as a space to socialise, there is a lounge, dining area, bar, wine cellar for wine tastings, a boutique store, and a lap pool. Monwana is truly exclusive with only six Suites and a private Residence, all with their own special features and views.
As your senses reawaken with this immersion in nature, enhance your wellbeing with a treatment at our world-class spa or workout in our fully equipped fitness centre.

About Thornybush Game Reserve
Thornybush Nature Reserve is part of the Greater Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and richest protected wilderness areas. It is home to the famed Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), and countless other beautiful creatures in their natural habitats. The reserve has many species of large mammals and is well-known for the quality and quantity of its sightings of Africa’s most elusive cat – the leopard. Being part of a private 14,000-hectare reserve means that guests enjoy personal, uncrowded, unrushed, and close contact sightings. The wildlife density on this tract of land is quite extraordinary, thanks to the rivers, landscapes and vegetation, and the unfenced border with the Greater Kruger National Park.
