Rhino River Lodge is a family-owned and operated Big 5 safari lodge located in the magnificent 57 000 acre Manyoni Private Game Reserve situated in the heart of Zululand in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Rhino River Lodge is a relaxed family-friendly lodge with a reputation for welcoming staff, amazing value for money and child-friendly safari activities.
ROOM TYPES & FEATURES
Deluxe en-suite rooms
The most traditional style of accommodation, The rooms are decorated in a modern rustic style.
A deluxe en-suite room has either one king-sized bed or two single beds draped with a large mosquito net, with an indoor sitting area and private veranda. Each unit is ensuite with showers. Units 4 & 5 inter-lead so are perfect for multi-generational families travelling together.
Family Loft Chalets
Family Loft Chalets can accommodate four people each. Each log-cabin-style chalet has two bedrooms all beds draped with mosquito nets, (one is a second story loft-style room, the other on the ground floor), a shared bathroom with bathtub & shower, and an open-plan living area.
These chalets are the closest to the main lounge, dining and pool areas of the lodge.
The Cottage
The Cottage can accommodate six guests, in two en-suite bedrooms, and a loft room with a downstairs bathroom, additional ottoman beds for children under 12 years can be added upon request if available.
The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioners, mosquito nets and stunning views.
The Homestead
The Homestead is a stylish two-bedroom safari home that can accommodate up to four guests. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and outdoor shower. The Homestead is equipped with a kitchen, large mosquito nets and air conditioning in bedrooms. As well as a private plunge pool overlooking the Msunduze Riverbed.
All rooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities as well as mini bar services.
LODGE FEATURES
The lodge grounds sprawl through an area of thick riverine vegetation, built on the banks of the Msunduze River bed, rich with bird and animal life, and filled with magnificent fig and fever trees.

About Manyoni Private Game Reserve
At 57,000 acre, Manyoni is one of the largest privately-owned game reserves in KwaZulu-Natal. It was formed in 2004 from a strategic partnership between the WWF, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and 17 landowners who committed to conservation and dropped their fences to create one protected wilderness area in Zululand.
Manyoni has over 70 mammal species, including all the Big 5, cheetah giraffe, zebra, hyena, blue wildebeest, kudu and other smaller antelope. Sitting at 434 recorded species, Manyoni is one of the best birding spots in South Africa.
The reserve has diverse habitats spanning from rolling grasslands to steep rocky hills, savannah thornveld and riverine forests. It is a Biodiversity Stewardship Reserve, which recognizes it as a custodian of shared natural heritage.

Getting There
NB: Please treat sat-nav directions which deviate from the printed directions below with caution as they might not indicate the most advisable route. Please also be aware of speed limits, many places along the N2 have a limit of 100 or even 80 kms/hour.
The lodge is 300km from Durban. When travelling north on the N2 from Durban, approximately 27kms past the Hluhluwe turnoff, turn left onto the dirt road sign posted P450 (Manyoni South Gate), opposite the Baobab Inn.
When travelling south on the N2 from Pongola/Johannesburg, approximately 20kms past the Mkuze turnoff, turn right onto the dirt road sign posted P450 (Manyoni South Gate), opposite the Baobab Inn.
The lodge’s entrance gate (Manyoni South Gate) is the first gate on your right hand side, 4.8kms along the P450 road. Once at Manyoni South Gate, you will be greeted by the friendly security officer and directed to Rhino River Lodge, which is a further 5.5kms inside the reserve.
