- Children of all ages are welcome at Karoo Lodge.
- Children before their 3rd birthday, sharing with adults, stay free of charge.
- Children between their 3rd and 14th birthday, sharing with adults, pay 50% of the adult rate.
- Guests aged 14 and over must take their own room at adult rates.
- Maximum of 2 children to be accommodated on extra beds in Karoo Suites, and maximum of 1 child in Lodge Suites, sharing with 2 adults.
- 3 or more adults are not permitted to share rooms.

- Children under 14 years are not permitted at The Manor unless The Manor has been booked on an exclusive-use basis.

- A bespoke program of activities will be discussed with your dedicated ranger.
- For parties of 6 guests or less, the standard sole-use rate is applicable even if there are children in the party. For parties over 6 guests, any children over and above the minimum 6 guest requirement will benefit from the following discounts – children before their 3rd birthday stay free, and children between their 3rd and 14th birthday pay 50% of the extra person rate.
- 3 or more adults are not permitted to share rooms
- Children under 8 are not allowed on scheduled game drives with other guests unless staying at The Manor when booked exclusively, or unless a private vehicle has been pre-booked.
- A private vehicle for families can be booked by prior arrangement, subject to availability and at extra cost.
- A children’s program is on offer for children of all ages and a shorter “bumble” drives for small children can be arranged on request once the scheduled game drive is back at the lodge.
- Babysitting service is available on request.

THE MANOR AT SAMARA
The Manor at Samara is for the exclusive use of up to 8 guests in ultimate luxury and total privacy with every whim being anticipated by friendly but unobtrusive staff.
The Manor is unique in its warm design which reflects the local landscape and traditions whilst retaining a lovely light twist. The style of the Manor is the inspiration of well known South African designer, John Zwiegelaar of John Jacob Interiors.
You will arrive at this historic homestead and upon entering, breathtaking views of this extraordinary Karoo mountain landscape will unfold over a 21m infinity pool which descents into a waterhole at which game can be present in the early morning and later afternoon. Relax in four spacious luxury air-conditioned suites. Beds are made up with the softest linen that lulls you to sleep and all suites have large en-suite bathrooms with separate showers and free standing baths. Unwind in the large comfortable lounge where a crackling fire burns in the winter months and the large glass doors to the patio are cast wide open in the summer. Take time to read an interesting book from the library in the cosy reading nooks. Dining experiences include boma, veranda, dining-room and breakfast room as well as various bush dining experiences.

Getting There
FROM JOHANNESBURG
- Take the N1 through Bloemfontein to Colesberg. Where the road splits, take the N9 to Middelburg and Graaff-Reinet.
- From Graaff-Reinet, take the Port Elizabeth road out of town for approximately 26 kms where you will come to the R 63 marked Pearston / Somerset-East (Blue Crane Route). Turn left and travel + 7 km and at the Samara Game Reserve sign turn left on to Petersburg Road.
- Follow the road through the reserve – approximately 24km and half an hour driving time – (phone us from first electric gate to let us know you are on the property), through the double electric gates, and follow the signs to Karoo Lodge, Guest Reception.
