- Babysitting service can be arranged upon request at an additional cost – must be booked in advance.
- Children aged 6 years old and older: are welcome on game drives BUT will be subject to confirmation by our guides.
- Children aged 5 years old and younger: if you wish to take your child on game drive, it will be necessary to reserve a PRIVATE vehicle at time of booking. This will be at an additional cost.
- Children aged 12-16 years old are permitted on game drives but are not permitted on walks outside the lodge.
- Children aged 16 years old and above are permitted on game drives and nature walks but are not permitted on specialist walking safaris.
- Permission on game drives and nature walks, for guests of all ages, will always be at the discretion of the Ranger.

Tomo Safari Lodge is a contemporary Safari Lodge designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings. With minimalist décor and natural finishes, the focus is placed on the magnificent views. The lodge features various spaces that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living , offering guests the perfect setting for relaxation.
For safety the lodge is fully fenced. throughout the property, there are various intimate corners where guests can retreat between game activities, whether it’s playing board games on the couches, enjoying a coffee in the bar lounge, endless mountain views, stargazing from the main deck, or relishing a meal amidst the sights and sounds of the African bush. Complimentary wi-fi is available throughout the lodge, ensuring guests stay connected while enjoying the serenity of their surroundings.

Tomo Safari Lodge is just a stone’s throw away from Hoedspruit and Eastgate Airport. This proximity to town provides guests with many more options for activities and things to see while staying there.
But don’t worry – you’ll still feel immersed in the splendid African wilderness as soon as you set foot on the premises! In their corner of the Greater Kruger, you can traverse and explore over 7000 hectares of pristine African bush, including dams, riverbeds, plains, hides, and lookout points.

Getting There
Join the N12 in the direction of Witbank/Emalahleni.
Proceed to the N4 toward Belfast/Emakhazeni.
Take exit R33 to Belfast/Emakhazeni through the town, then continue on the R540 to Dullstroom/Emnotweni and Lydenburg/Mashishing. (Please take heed of the fact that this road is full of potholes).
Pass through Lydenburg/Mashishing towards Ohrigstad along the R36. (Please take heed of the fact that this road is also pitted with potholes).
Continue through Ohrigstad and then through the Abel Erasmus Pass and JG Strydom Tunnel taking the R527 towards Hoedspruit. (Cautious driving through the pass is advised. It is extremely scenic, but has many hairpin bends and drops steeply into the Lowveld of South Africa).
Upon exiting the pass, proceed to Hoedspruit.
Once you enter Hoedspruit, proceed through the town and over the railway bridge to a 4-way junction (Where the R527 intersects with the R40).
At the 4-way junction, continue straight.
Directions from Hoedspruit to Tomo Safari Lodge.
From the 4-way stop at the intersection of R40 & R527, continue straight ahead if coming from the Strijdom tunnel side, or turn right if coming from Klaserie/Hazyview side. You will pass a sign marked “Air Force Base” once you’ve turned onto this road.
Continue straight for under 2km to a stop sign at a junction.
At the junction turn right towards the Air Force Base.
Proceed for 5.1 km, after which you will encounter a sign on the left indicating Umhlametsi Nature Reserve, Tomo Safari Lodge. The coordinates where you should turn off the main road are (24°20’15.4 S 31°00’29.6E) (-24.337611, 31.008222).
Turn left and drive to the entrance gate for Tomo Safari Lodge.
Upon arrival at the gate, please read and follow the instructions on the signboard to gain access to the reserve.
Once in the reserve, follow the signs to Tomo Safari Lodge.
